Jamie Redknapp Claims There Is Only One Former Premier League Striker Better Than Sergio Aguero

Football pundit Jamie Redknapp has claimed Thierry Henry is the only Premier League striker above current Manchester City star Sergio Aguero in the history of the competition.

Aguero has frequently been amongst the top scorers in the league come the end of the season during his stay in Manchester, scoring an impressive 110 Premier League goals in 159 appearances.

The Argentina international netted his 150th goal for City in all competitions during their 1-1 draw with Middlesbrough at the weekend, and Redknapp has claimed only former Arsenal star Thierry Henry is ahead of him in terms of Premier League strikers.

Writing for theDaily Mail, Redknapp also criticised manager Pep Guardiola's decision to bring Aguero off when the match was still in the balance.

"Even after Middlesbrough's stoppage-time equaliser there was still time for Manchester City to grab a winner," Redknapp wrote.

"The problem was Pep Guardiola had taken off Sergio Aguero, his most likely match-winner, just beforehand. It's never 'job done' in this league and I don't think we'll see Pep doing that again!

"Aguero scored his 150th City goal on Saturday and for me, only Thierry Henry stands above him as the Premier League's greatest striker."

Henry is widely regarded as a legend of the game, having notched an impressive 174 Premier League goals in 254 appearances for Arsenal, frequently scoring 20 goals or more during a season, before moving to Barcelona in 2007.

He also achieved success on the international stage with France, winning the World Cup in 1998 and the Euro Championship in 2000.
