Ghana captain Andre Ayew believes John Mensah excelled in every game he featured for the Black Stars.

Mensah, who made his Black Stars debut in 2001 capped 86 times scoring 3 goals in the process.

The towering guardsman, a member of the squad that reached the quarter-finals of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa called it a quit on international football in 2012.

In an interview with Joy FM, Ayew heaped praise on the former Sunderland defender and insisted he is an exceptional leader.

He added he does not remember a game he did not perform well for the country.

“I don’t remember one game where somebody can say that John Mensah did not play well. Since I was in the Black Stars, I don’t recall,” he said.

John Mensah, 38, has not officially announced his retirement from football but he has not been active since 2017.
