Jonathan Mensah coping with the absence of football by keeping in touch with teammates

Ghanaian international Jonathan Mensah has revealed that he constantly stays in touch with Columbus Crew teammates during this Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic period.

The Major League Soccer (MLS) played in the United States of America (USA) has been suspended due to the alarming number of Covid-19 cases recorded in the country.

In line with that, players have been forced to stay in isolation at home as they hope for calm to be restored for football to resume.

While it can be very boring staying at home, Jonathan Mensah is coping by keeping in touch with some of his Crew teammates.

“[The Leadership Council has] three, four guys that we check on every day. Just checking to see how guys are doing, physically and mentally.

“Even someone like me, even though I’m on the leadership team, Darlington Nagbe, Gyasi Zardes and other guys call me because I’m all by myself here. But we keep in touch”, the Black Stars center-back said in a recent interview.

Mensah is eager to have the MLS season back but has stressed that the protection of human life should be the priority at this point in time.
