Italian midfielder, Jorginho, has shed some light on why Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has chosen to start him ahead of Thomas Partey in recent matches.

Jorginho started in Arsenal's win over Chelsea and was also given a start in their victory over Newcastle United.

After the match against Newcastle, Jorginho spoke about the difference between him and Partey, noting that both players add to the depth Arsenal has in midfield.

Jorginho said, "I think we are two different players that can adapt for the coach in different games. I think the coach has two good choices and depending on what game and what type of players he wants on the pitch.

"The only thing we can do is be ready when he needs us and give our best to help the team."

Jorginho's remarks suggest that Arteta's decision to start him over Partey is based on the specific needs of each game.

While Jorginho is known for his passing and technical ability, Partey is a more physical player who excels in tackling and ball-winning.

Depending on the opposition and the style of play Arteta wants to implement, either player may be a better fit for the starting lineup.

Since joining Arsenal in the January transfer window, Jorginho has started six out of 11 matches in the Premier League, while Partey has started 26 out of 30 outings.
