Jose Mourinho Reveals £50m Pair Are Free to Leave Manchester United in January

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has admitted that his squad could be thinned out in the coming January transfer window, hinting at potential exits for the likes of Memphis Depay and Morgan Schneiderlin.

The unsettled pair have played just over half an hour of Premier League football between them this season, having failed to impress Mourinho since his summer arrival at Old Trafford as Louis van Gaal's replacement.

Both players have been linked with January moves to Everton and, quoted byESPNafter his pre-match press conference on Tuesday, Mourinho admitted:"I am always open to listen to offers for every player. But more than listen to offers, I am always ready to listen to the players themselves.

"So any player who knocks on my door and is not happy and wants to move, when the offers are correct, I will never stop a player from leaving, even if it is to a rival. When Juan Mata left Chelsea to come to Manchester United, no problem at all. In my mentality, no problem at all. I am always open."

Bastian Schweinsteiger is another United player expected to be on the way out of the club sooner rather than later, but Mourinho insisted that the German - despite making just one substitute appearance all season - is likely to stay put over the winter.

"I do [expect him to stay]," he said. "Unless again, the player knocks on our door with a future that he wants to grab with both hands. Then I never stop players doing what they want if, I repeat if, the conditions are right for the club."
