Jose Mourinho Savages Michael Owen Over Zlatan Comments as EPL Managers Continue to Hit Out at Media

Published on: 13 December 2016

So much for the season of good will!

December appears to be fast becoming the month of media/manager spats and, after Jurgen Klopp dug out Gary Neville earlier in the week, Jose Mourinho has taken a pot-shot at BT Sport's Michael Owen (who apparently used to play football a bit?)

Klopp has a go at the Nevilles, Guardiola takes aim at Collymore & now Mourinho digs out Owen. Managers v pundits is the big new rivalry.

Owen criticised Manchester United forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic earlier in the season for waiting for the ball too much, but the Swede's boss popped back in a BT Sport interview - saying that Ibrahimovic would score more for the club in a single season than Owen did in three years at Old Trafford.

Props to the channel's director, who showed Owen's sheepish reaction to Mourinho's pasting in the corner of the screen as Mourinho said:"Zlatan. In spite of your colleague Michael Owen, who doesn't like him, the fact is Zlatan will score more goals in one season than he managed in three seasons at Manchester United.

Jose Mourinho has absolutely destroyed Michael Owen on BT Sport. 😂 pic.twitter.com/FhJqlhevBr

"He scored 17 goals in three seasons. Zlatan is almost there in six months so he's not a bad choice for us."
