Juan Mata Hopes Winning Mentality Can See Manchester United Climb Up the League Table

Writing in his weekly blog, Manchester United's midfielder Juan Mata has praised his side's performance against hapless Leicester and he's optimistic that the Red Devils can continue their momentum in the league with a crucial win against Watford on Saturday.

In his blog, available on the official Manchester United website, Mata states that "The win in Leicester allows us to look into the future with optimism. The 3-0 score on Sunday confirms many positive things that the team has been doing, and it also improves efficiency inside the opponent's box."

The Spaniard, who scored the third goal at the King Power Stadium on Sunday, emphasised the importance of putting pressure on those teams above them in the league table.

"This weekend we have taken the opportunity to reduce the gap with some of our main rivals, and we will try to maintain the same mentality to keep moving up the table"

Man Utd are now unbeaten in 15 consecutive league games, the longest active unbeaten run in Europe's top 5 leagues.

Despite still only spending two full seasons at the club, Juan Mata fully understands its history and he was keen to remind everyone of today's importance as it marks the 59th anniversary of the Munich Air Disaster which took the lives of 23 people on board.

"This is always a very emotional day, a date to remember and to honour all of them, and also those who strove to respect and praise that legacy. This is one of the reasons that makes this club so special."

Manchester United and Juan Mata will look to commemorate the anniversary with a victory at Old Trafford this coming Saturday afternoon as they take on Watford. The players will wear black armbands to remember those who lost their lives almost 60 years ago.
