Bibiani Goldstars head coach, Kobina Amissah claims his side has come to stay in the Ghana Premier League.
Bibiani Goldstars qualified from Zone Two of the Division One League (DOL) with 62 points, with two games left to play.
Since then, coach Amissah has been scouting for young quality and experienced players from both the DOL and the GPL to strengthen his team ahead of the new season.
"Goldstars have come to stay in the GPL. We are not going to fight for the league title this season, but we will also not be mere pushovers in the league. We will play well and be very competitive to win the support of many football lovers in Ghana,” Coach Amissah told Graphic Sports.
“We have very experienced players. Many of our players have tasted the GPL before so they will not play under any pressure when the league begins. I have also coached many Premier League clubs before so I will not be under any pressure when I am at the touchline guiding my players to do what they know best,” he explained.
He added, "I first qualified Berekum Chelsea to the Premiership in 2003.
"I also brought Sekondi Hasaacas back into the premiership almost a decade ago in the 2012/2013 season, before leading Elmina Sharks to the premiership in 2015; so this is the fourth time I have brought a Division One side to the premiership.
"Since I have coached in the Premier side before, coaching Goldstars in the elite division will not be something new to me as I have players who have played in that division before. So we are going to offer stiff opposition to all our opponents in next season’s league."
“We were very positive that we were going to qualify to the premiership, so as we were playing the DOL we were also scouting for new quality players.
“The management does not want to take chances at all so they have given the assurance to support the technical team to recruit players with the requisite experience to transform Goldstars into one of the most attractive clubs in Ghana,” he said.
“It is for this reason that the technical team are leaving no stone unturned to scout for young experienced and quality players to strengthen the team ahead of next season’s GPL. We are, therefore, battle-ready for the elite division and will give a good account of ourselves when the season begins,” he assured.
