Kotoko allow Abeiku Ainoonso to leave club

Kumasi Asante Kotoko have agreed to allow former Captain Abeiku Ainoonson to leave the club following the expiration of his contract with the Porcupine Warriors.

According to reports, the Club were unwilling to extend the contract of the defender who fell out with the club halfway through last season.

The 27 year old ended up moving on loan to rivals Ashantigold.

The former New Edubiase captain is said to be on the radar of Elmina Sharks but he is likely to join Ashantigold after helping the miners survive relegation.

Meanwhile, Coach Steve Pollack is looking at augmenting his side with the arrivals of new players. The English man is reported to be interested in Hearts defender Vincent Atinga, who he claimed in the best at his position last season.

"Atinga proved his worth in the Hearts of Oak setup when the chance came up. He only had opportunity to play when the team’s injury situation rose up. He may have likely been offloaded if this chance did not come his way. The lack of confidence in him at the beginning of the season is the reason why his contract has ran out. Atinga was virtually unplayable when he hit top form. He kept his defence in check and is likely to win best defender of the ended season," Pollack said in an interview.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko will represent Ghana at the Confederation Cup next season after winning the MTN FA Cup last month.
