Kotoko-Hearts games not attractive anymore due to poor recruitment- Dan Oppong

Former Hearts of Oak player Dan Oppong has attributed the decline of the Super Clash between Kotoko and Hearts of Oak to poor recruitment.

The two most glamourous clubs in the country will lock horns at the Baba Yara Stadium in matchday 31 of the Ghana Premier League campaign.

However, both teams have been struggling with form, with the Porcupine Warriors recently losing to Berekum Chelsea whiles Hearts of Oak succumbed to a narrow defeat to Aduana Stars at the Accra Sports Stadium.

In recent years, the Super Clash appears to have lost

“Kotoko and Hearts fans always expect their club to be playing in Africa. And if you are playing in Africa, you have to get matured players who can help the club to excel. Previously, both teams were signing top-notch players but the narrative has changed this time”

“You will see Kotoko signing players from the Division Two league. Truth be told, not all players from such level can withstand the pressure. Before I joined Hearts of Oak, I had featured for several club so I had the experience to play”

“I will attribute their decline of both to their recruitment. It has not been the best in recent times. Matches between them has fallen because of how players are recruited into the teams” he told Kessben FM monitored by Footballghana.com.

Ahead of the game, Asante Kotoko find themselves in 10th position with 40 points whiles Hearts of Oak sit 12th with 38 points after 30 matches.

The Super Clash between Kotoko and Hearts of Oak is widely regarded as the biggest game in Ghanaian football, drawing passionate support from both sides.
