Former Asante Kotoko star Ernest Appau has blamed his former clubs struggles to the collapse of youth team.

The Porcupine Warriors have struggled in recent times despite winning the Premier League title last season.

The record Ghana Premier League holders failed to go beyond the first round of the continental assignment, leaving the country with limited slots in Africa.

According to Appau, who won Africa with the Kotoko, his former club can get better if they revive the youth team.

“Kotoko now sign player who not more matured to fit into the team but Kotoko is not a team to experiment with players. As a player, you have to fit in and win laurels for the club, Kotoko fans are very demanding, they always want to see the club winning trophies unlike other clubs who can go in for first and second division player’s”

“If they can revive the youth team, I think it will help the club. The youth team contributed to our success during our time with Kotoko”

“During our time, there was transition from the youth team to the senior team and that helped a lot. I think the collapse of the youth team is affecting the team, I will plead with management to take critical look at it and revive the youth team” he told Kessben FM monitored by Footballghana.com.
