Lazio chief Igli Tare raps De Vrij: No gratitude

Lazio chief Igli Tare has taken aim at Stefan de Vrij.

The Dutch defender will leave Lazio at the end of the season when his contract expires.

Tare barked: "We really wanted the rapport with De Vrij to end differently. This is why I'd like to avoid giving the reasons for the failed contract renewal until after that ship has sailed. Once the situation has calmed down, I'll explain why it shouldn't have gone this way.

“When you have to negotiate with players of his level, you shouldn't reach the point we reached. Unfortunately, some promises were not kept for quite a while and it turned into a race against time. He should've shown more gratitude towards the club.

“Lazio have no need to chase anyone down. I think a step towards us would've shown some recognition from his entourage. He is a professional, he'll give his all for the rest of the season and then our paths will separate."

Many reports suggest De Vrij already has an agreement with Inter.

“I know where he's going, but it's not for me to say. Maybe it's the wind that blows the free agents towards San Siro…"
