Ghana playmaker, Daniel Kofi Kyereh has revealed he was left sad after parting ways with St. Pauli.

Kyereh was hoping to secure a Bundesliga promotion with the side but suffered a defeat in the playoffs.

The 26 year old midfielder however joined SC Freiburg during the summer transfer and has been a key player for the side so far in the season.

Speaking to GQ in an interview, the midfielder revealed that leaving Hamburg was not easy.

"It was difficult for me to support FC. Leaving St. Pauli because it was the ideal club and the ideal city for me,” said the 26-year-old.

The fact that Kyereh still wanted to change was due to his desire to finally play in the upper house of German football.

"But it has always been a dream of mine to play in the Bundesliga and the time had come to take the next step," he added.

Kyereh struggled to settle in the beginning but the former St Pauli player has blossomed in recent games, scoring his first Bundesliga goal against Mainz O5 over the weekend.

The attacking midfielder provided an assist in the Europa League game against Olympiacos in Greece a fortnight ago and scored on Thursday night against FC Nantes.

Kyereh has so far a total appearance of 10 appearances for Freiburg.
