In the wake of the tragic passing of Legon Cities goalkeeper Sylvester Sackey, the Ghana football fraternity was struck with fresh concern as reports surfaced of another player, Emmanuel Essu, facing a life-threatening illness.

Legon Cities FC swiftly responded to reduce the growing unease, urging both the general public and media to approach the situation with caution.

They assured that every possible effort was being made to address Essu's current condition, as the club and its community grappled with this double blow.

Essu, a member of the Meteors squad that qualified for the 2023 CAF U23 AFCON, allegedly wrote a letter to Ghana U23 head coach Ibrahim Tanko pleading for their qualification money to be paid so that he could utilize it for medical care.

According to reports in the local media, the player was neglected, which resulted in a decline in his health.

The club took to its official social platforms to post the statement on Wednesday 13th September 2023.
