The Ghanaian received oxygen and was stretchered off with his boot in a supportive cast as messages of support flooded in.

Manager Puel also offered his support after praising the player for his performance and sacrifice in trying to stop a rampaging Antonio.

"My first thoughts are about Daniel," he said.

"I hope it to not be a serious injury. He needs to be examined and we'll see after that.

"Yeah, he’s gone to the hospital of course. He made a strong game and all the battles and the end he sacrificed to save an opportunity for the opponents.

"That is his game. He improves a lot this season, I hope he will come back quickly. It's too soon to say more."

Amartey has established himself as City's right back this season and put in an assured performance against the Hammers.
