An Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association [GFA], Randy Abbey, has called on Ghanaians to keep supporting the new head coach of the Black Stars, Chris Hughton.
The Irish-born of Ghanaian descent was confirmed as the new head trainer of the senior national team on a 21-month deal.
The 64-year-old recorded his first win against Angola in the first leg of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] qualifiers on Thursday at the Baba Yara Stadium with late Antoine Semenyo's late strike.
With the reverse scheduled on Monday, March 27 in Luanda, Mr Abbey believes it was a good start for the former Tottenham manager after the hard-fought win.
According to him, Hughton will need the support of the country to keep up the good work.
"I think it's a good start for Chris Hughton and we need to keep supporting the team," he told Kumasi-based Akoma FM.
The game has been scheduled to kick off at 15:00GMT at the Estádio 11 de Novembro.
The Black Stars are aiming to end the country's 41 years Afcon trophy drought in Ivory Coast next year.
