Liverpool Boss Jurgen Klopp Insists Club's Goalkeeper Situation is 'as Good as Possible'

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has backed both Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius,insisting that the club's goalkeeper situation is "as good as possible".


The Reds have been regularly linked with on-loan Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart, although Klopp has made it clear that he feels no need to sign a new goalkeeper in the summer.


The German coach has seemingly yet to discover which of Mignolet and Karius will be first choice in the long-term, but pointed towards the depth that youngsters such as Danny Ward provide.

Jurgen Klopp has said he is not planning to sign a new goalkeeper this summer.

"I'm happy with our goalkeepers," Klopp said - viathe Daily Mail. "It is how it always is in football. It is all about players. We have Alex Manninger, a wonderful professional who helps the squad a lot.We have young players in behind including Danny. Our situation is as good as possible."


Mignolet is expected to continue in between the sticks for Sunday's game against Burnley, with Klopp's main selection decision concerning centre-back Dejan Lovren who has yet to return to the first team.

"It depends on what I see (from him) in training," said Klopp. "I cannot make line up based on a good game five weeks ago. He had a break and we had a few good games since he play with Lucas and Joel (Matip) against Tottenham.


"Okay, it was not good against Leicester but then it was good again with Joel and Ragnar (Klavan) against Arsenal. We had a lot of sessions this week and we will make a decision. This year I would say (he has been out) a little too often but I am confident he will be ready for the future."
