Liverpool legend Gerrard hails \'world-class\' Mane

Steven Gerrard has labelled Sadio Mane as 'world class' after his stunning performance in Liverpool's win over West Ham United on Saturday.

The Senegalese attacker, in his first performance since he injured his hamstring against Manchester United last month, set up Mohamad Salah twice in the 4-1 victory.

Mane wasn't expected to return for the clash, but manager Jurgen Klopp felt compelled to start the 25-year-old because of his form in training, and Gerrard feels the German's faith was repaid by Mane's scintillating display.

"He's awesome, he's great to watch. I'm not saying it from a biased point of view," the Reds legend and U18s manager said.

"He's the type of player you'd go and pay big money to go and watch every single week because he's great on the eye. He's so quick, he makes things happen.

"For someone so quick and the speed that he does it at, to have the touch and the finesse that he shows for the first goal – and also for the second assist – is world-class."
