Lopetegui cools keeper concerns

Real Madrid head coach Julen Lopetegui has welcomed the possible selection headache of having both Keylor Navas and Thibaut Courtois at the club.

Belgium international Courtois has joined Real from Chelsea, leaving Navas facing stiff competition to retain his place as the regular staring keeper for the three-time defending Champions League champions.

We don't see it as a problem, rather as two magnificent solutions.

However, former Spain boss Lopetegui is not concerned that the presence of two top-class keepers could prove to be something of a problem for him to resolve.

He told reporters: "Navas and Courtois? We have huge competition for places and that's good for the team.

"There will always be a problem, regardless of what decision we make, because there will always be a goalkeeper who doesn't play.

"But we don't see it as a problem, rather as two magnificent solutions."

Meanwhile, Courtois' agent Christophe Henrotay has made it clear that his client only left Chelsea to head to the Santiago Bernabeu due to family reasons.

He told the BBC's Sportsweek programme: "There has been a misunderstanding that he wanted to get a move for the wrong reasons, but he was pushing to go out of Chelsea because of his children.

"If the family were in London it would have been totally different, he would have stayed. There is no reason to leave a club like Chelsea, he could have won trophies."

Real Madrid can be backed at 7/1 to win a fourth consecutive Champions League title this season, with Juventus 6/1 and Barcelona 6/1.
