Malian giants Stade Malien de Bamako signs Ghanaian defender Issah Yakubu

Malian giants Stade Malien de Bamako have completed the signing of Ghanaian defender Issah Yakubu in the ongoing transfer window.

The 25-year-old joins the club ahead of the new season from Ivorian side ES Bafing for an undisclosed fee.

The enterprising defender is expected to play a huge role for the Malian outfit in the upcoming season.

Yakubu featured for the Ivorian club last season after departing Ghana Premier League outfit Dreams FC following the expiration of his contract.

Both parties agreed to part ways at the end of the 2021/23 football season when his contract expired.

Yakubu was an instant hit in the Ivorian Ligue 1 with top-notch performances, which attracted the top sides in the country and outside.

The former Ghana U23 player earned a place in the team of the season of the Ivorian championship with his consistent performances.

His top performance caught the attention of fellow Ivorian club, ASEC Mimosas but Yakubu opted to join the Malian club.

Stade Malien had an abysmal run in the league last season, finishing at the 9th position on the standings after 30 rounds of matches.
