Man City legend The Goat: Derby will show Man Utd are pretenders

Published on: 07 December 2017

Manchester City's former striker and club legend Shaun Goater believes the Citizens will show they are the only team in the Premier League title race this weekend.

City go to Old Trafford and face arch-rivals Manchester United. The two clubs are in the top two spots of the league, with City eight points ahead of United.

"They play attractive football and Pep is trying everything to try to get that win, try and get that defining goal that ensures the win," Goater said while speaking to Sky Sports.

"Yes it is (a big gap). Truth be told, I think it is a one-horse race, I really do.

"For me, I think it will confirm that after the derby game."

"But the work you've done now allows you to win the league.

"So they will not pay attention to the media and what people are saying but for me it's a one-horse race. I think it's for City to lose, as early as it is."

United are undefeated at home for the past 40 games in all competitions, a joint club record. But the last team to defeat them at Old Trafford was Manchester City, in the same fixture last season.

Sunday's game promises to be a fantastic clash, regardless of who comes out on top.
