The 16-year-old striker, born in France of Gabonese descent, is hot property in Austria and United are considering adding him to their academy.
Any prospect of a move to United is likely to be run past Salzburg's sister club, RB Leipzig first.
United were also interested in Dayot Upamecano at Salzburg before he was eventually sold to RBL.
