Manchester United will offer Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann a £60m deal to be their star summer signing, according tothe Mirror.

Griezmann has been heavily linked with a move to United and is expected to leave Atletico to join the club he admired as a youngster. United are willing to offer the 25-year-old a four-year deal worth £300,000-a-week, totalling more than £15m a season.

The France international has been linked with United due to Paul Pogba's presence at Old Trafford, and while United remain hopeful of negotiating the £85.5m release clause in Griezmann's contract executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward will sanction the move even if the fee cannot be lowered.

While United still face a battle to qualify for the Champions League Griezmann is said to be so desperate to sign for the Red Devils that he will join the club regardless of whether Jose Mourinho's side qualify for Europe's elite competition.

Griezmann reportedly worshipped former Manchester United midfielder David Beckham as a kid and is looking forward to wearing the No. 7 shirt, a shirt which is currently unoccupied by United's squad.

Mourinho is prepared to let club captain Wayne Rooney leave in the summer, with the forward reportedly listening to offers from the Chinese Super League. Griezmann is seen as an ideal replacement and Mourinho will let Rooney leave should the England international feel his role at Old Trafford becoming diminished.

Griezmann netted 22 La Liga goals in his first two seasons at Atleticoand has scored eight league goals so far this campaign.
