Man Utd striker Lukaku close to breaking peculiar Diego Forlan record

Published on: 07 December 2017

Romelu Lukaku got back into goal scoring form for Manchester United in the game against CSKA Moscow on Tuesday night, netting the side's equalising goal after a lovely pass from teammate Paul Pogba.

And Lukaku will be hoping to carry that form into the weekend's Manchester derby. United trail their 'noisy neighbors' by eight points in the league, and need a win if they want to stop City's seemingly smooth path towards the league title.

The weekend fixture has extra significance, given City are unbeaten in the Premier League so far. United have an unbeaten run of their own to extend, having equaled the club's best ever home record of 40 games unbeaten in all competitions.

And Lukaku could be in line to break a strange record of his own.

The Belgian striker would become the first place since Diego Forlan, an ex-Manchester United player, to score in three consecutive games against teams managed by Pep Guardiola.

Lukaku scored in both games against City last season, for his then club Everton. He will hope to make it three in three with a goal at the weekend.
