Manchester City Reportedly Eyeing Big Money Moves for Bayern Munich Pair Juan Bernat and David Alaba

Manchester City are reportedly lining up big money moves for Bayern Munich pair Juan Bernat and David Alaba, according to The Sun.

The paper claims that City boss Pep Guardiola is eyeing a reunion with Bernat, who he signed from Valencia in the summer of 2014 during his time in charge of Bayern, and will make an offer of around £20m for his services.

Bernat is viewed as a potential long-term replacement to current left back options Aleksandar Kolarov and Gael Clichy, and Guardiola could make a move for the defender as early as January.

A source from within the City camp alleges that, with Kolarov the wrong side of 30 and Clichy's contract up next summer, any potential move for Bernat could be made as soon as possible.

The insider said: Gael Clichy is out of contract next summer and Aleksandar Kolarov is 31 next month.

They are slowly coming towards the end of their careers at City and Pep is looking at the future.

Bernat has made 82 appearances for Bayern since he completed an £8.5m switch from the Mestalla two seasons ago, and has bagged two Bundesliga titles and a German Cup during his time in Germany.

Meanwhile, Guardiola is also believed to be monitoring the situation of Bernat's fellow Bayern star Alaba as the 45-year-old plots an overhaul of his defensive options at the Etihad stadium.

Alaba also played under Guardiola at the Allianz Arena, and with the ability to play across the park, would be a welcome versatile addition to the Spaniard's first-team ranks.

The Austria international is thought to be valued at around £40m - a fee City would be willing to match - and The Sun speculates that Alaba is Guardiola's number one transfer target ahead of the January transfer window.

The 24-year-old Alaba has featured 230 times for Bayern since breaking through the youth ranks with the Bundesliga club, and has won 13 titles with the club during that time.
