Manchester City Star Discusses Strengths of 'Incomparable' Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp

Ilkay Gundogan has claimed that there isn't another manager in world football quite like Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola.

The midfielder has had the pleasure of working under the ex-Barcelona star since the duo completed summer moves to the Etihad, with Gundogan particularly benefitting from their link up in the last six months.

Gundogan has bagged five goals in 16 appearances for City to date but, cruelly, the 26-year-old is set to miss the rest of the 2016/17 campaign after he sustained a cruciate knee ligament injury in the 2-0 home win over Watford last Wednesday.

Despite yet another injury setback for the Germany international, Gundogan is still of the opinion that he'll learn much from Guardiola during his period on the treatment table, and hailed the Spaniard's charismatic nature as one of the defining features that make him such a good coach.

He told Sport Bild (via ESPN): "Pep thinks about every different situation and has solutions for them. There is no coach like him.

"He has great charisma. Everybody who knows him sees that his football was always dominant and he had success every time."

Gundogan plied his trade with Borussia Dortmund before his £25m summer switch to England and, during his time at the Westfalonstadion, worked under current Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp. The Reds boss has led his side to second in the Premier league table ahead of the Christmas fixture period and, when quizzed over which manager he believed was the better of the two, Gundogan chose to highlight strengths of both coaches who have had sizable impacts on his playing career.

He added: "Jurgen has an enormous spectrum of things he is able to do. He can fascinate people, make them laugh -- you become a fan of him very quickly. Both are world-class coaches with their own qualities and both are passionate, even if it's in different ways."

Gundogan is likely to return to training ahead of the 2017 pre-season schedule once his lengthy rehabilitation programme is completed.
