Jesus flew to Barcelona earlier in February for an operation that was carried out by specialist doctors under the recommendation of boss Pep Guardiola. Now, the Brazilian star will use the oxygen process to try and speed up his recovery.

City have given him permission to fly back to Brazil where he can spend time with family and friends to help him relax.

An unnamed City insider said that:Jesus is hoping to return before the end of the season and the oxygen chamber has helped others before. He elected for surgery rather than rest to ensure he didn't suffer any problems in the future.

"He is convinced he can play.Jesus thinks he can be back for the Premier League run-in and hopefully the Champions League and FA Cup finals in May, all being well.

"The club have heard good things about the hyperbaric chambers. They're usually used for treating the bends when a diver has risen too quickly from the deep-sea.

TV pundit and former Arsenal striker Ian Wright hit out at Jesus's flimsy plastic boots, blaming them for his potentially season-ending injury.

David Beckham and Wayne Rooney have both experienced quicker than usual recoveries thanks to hyperbaric chambers, which help produce extra white and red blood cells.
