Marcus Rashford, Andreas Pereira strike as Manchester United see off Brighton

Goals from Marcus Rashford and Andreas Pereira helped Manchester United to a 3-1 home win over Brighton at Old Trafford on Sunday.

United opened the scoring in the 17th minute when Pereira's deflected strike from inside the Brighton box found the bottom corner of Mathew Ryan's goal.

The hosts then doubled their lead moments later as Scott McTominay bundled a United free kick towards goal, with the final touch coming off of Brighton midfielder Davy Propper, though a VAR check for handball was required before the goal was awarded.

The visitors had their fair share of position and tested United -- whose 19-year-old defender Brandon Williams made his first league start for the club -- throughout, finally getting their reward on 64 minutes when Lewis Dunk headed past David de Gea from a Brighton corner.

United had the perfect response two minutes later, however, with Rashford smashing a shot off the crossbar and in after an assist from Anthony Martial.

The home team then dominated the closing stages of the game to see out the victory and bounce back from last week's 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth, though they suffered a late blow as McTominay was helped off the pitch after going down injured.
