Medeama board chair Dr Tony Aubynn backs new Ghana FA Executive Council despite losing seat

Medeama SC board member Dr Tony Aubynn has thrown his weight behind the newly elected Ghana Football Association Executive Council despite losing his seat.

Tony Aubynn’s quest to retain his position on the Ghana FA Exco hit a snag after failing short to the required number of votes during the Elective Congress in Tamale.

The football administrator was vying for one of the five seats allocated to the 18 Ghana Premier League clubs but his bid took a nosedive. He garnered just 7 votes which was not enough for him to retain his seat.

Despite missing out, Tony Aubynn has promised to support the newly elected Executive Council of the football association.

“Congress has gone very well. It’s being calm better than what people expected especially giving stories around it and all that, so I think everything has gone very well.

“I couldn’t make it but that’s fine, it is service to football. In all, those who are going are good enough and I give them my support,” he said.

At the end of the election, former Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah, Randy Abbey, Nana Oduro Sarfo, Frederick Acheampong and Kingsley Osei Bonsu clinched victory in the highly contested race to join the Ghana FA Exco.
