Medeama SC has filed an appeal to try and overturn a ruling by the Disciplinary Committee (DC) of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) which has directed that they are deducted 3 points.

The Tarkwa-based club was dragged before the committee by Great Olympics for what the complainant said was ‘fielding an ineligible player’ during their matchday 12 fixture in the 2019/2020 season.

At the end of proceedings, Medeama was found guilty of fielding Nana Kofi Babil who was on 3 yellow cards [worthy of a match suspension].

Reacting to the ruling on Monday night, the club said: “We reject the decision of the Disciplinary Committee and will fight the matter to its logical conclusion”.

Just as they said, Medeama has filed an appeal as they look to challenge the verdict by the DC of the Ghana FA.

“We successfully filed an appeal on Tuesday against Ghana Premier League decision to dock us points over claims of fielding an unqualified player against Great Olympics”, a statement from the club said on Tuesday evening.

It added, “We urge our fans to remain calm as we continue the legal battle”.
