Former Black Queens' head coach, Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo, has refused to speak about she was treated when she was in charge of Ghana’s national women’s football team.

The former player managed the team between 2018 to 2023 but was replaced by Nora Hauptle after she failed to qualify for two international competitions in a row.

“It doesn’t matter. Life is full of ups and downs. It doesn’t matter” she said in response when quizzed on how she was treated during her tenure as Black Queens head coach," she told Citi Sports.

The Black Queens lost out on progressing to the 2023 FIFA World Cup and 2022 Women’s AFCON that was held in Morocco.

Tagoe-Quarcoo was part of the Black Queens team that competed at the 1999 Women’s World Cup and made history by becoming the first woman to be named head coach of the Black Queens.

Under Hauptle, Ghana beat Guinea 7-0 on aggregate to progress to the second round of qualifiers for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Ghana has been drawn against Benin.
