The ex-Real Madrid midfielder recently named his team of the decade for footballers that have emerged from the continent since 2010.

In a period where there have been two world cups as well as six Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournaments, many great footballers have come to light.

In that period, Asamoah Gyan has played at every tournament and has excelled as well. Even together with his impressive record at the club level, he does not get a place on the Africa team of the decade put together by Michael Essien.

He is beaten to a place on the team by Didier Drogba, Mohammed Salah, and Samuel Eto’o.

Below is Michael Essien’s Africa team of the decade.

Goalkeeper:

Vincent Enyeama.
