Michael Osei has no word on his future with Kumasi Asante Kotoko, but the uncertainty has not stopped him from making plans for the team for the new season.
On Wednesday, Osei intends to start his pre-season with the team, hoping to put his side in a better shape for the new season.
Although hesitant to open up with the Porcupine Warriors, Osei is eager to continue in the hot seat into the upcoming season and is counting on the blessings of the club’s owner and Life Patron, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to stay in the job.
"Of course, I would want to continue working for Kotoko, but I'm also ready to accept whatever decision. He has the final say and I'm ready to go by whatever he says so far as my job is concerned," Osei told the Graphic Sports.
"So far as I'm concerned, I have a duty to discharge and until I'm told that my services are no longer needed, I don't see why I should relax or slow down. I'll continue carrying out my responsibilities until told to do otherwise," Osei emphasised.
He also admitted that the team's performance last season was disappointing, and that he had identified what was wrong and was planning to recruit players to help strengthen the team for the upcoming season.
"We had some specific challenges with some roles in the team during our campaign last season and because of the strict transfer period, it was difficult to fill those voids. I think I have identified players we will need to solve those problems and we will move to get the job done," Osei, himself a former Kotoko player, revealed.
Osei, who has been an assistant for Kotoko for almost three seasons under Mas-Ud Didi Dramani and David Duncan, but was asked to take over as the head coach after Kotoko and Duncan had parted ways in the first round of the Ghana Premier League last season.
He steered the team from the bottom rungs of the table to finish fifth on the log.
