Milan manager Vincenzo Montella believes that on-loan winger Gerard Deulofeu still has a lot to contribute, despite a slow start to life in Serie A.

Deulofeu, who joined the Rossoneri from Everton during January, is yet to score or contribute an assistdespite having played three games in all competitions for his new club.

His latest appearance came in the 1-0 defeat at home against Sampdoria, during which he played the full 90 minutes and hit the post.

He clearly has quality, Montella explained to Milan TV, as quoted byFootball-Italia.

He needs to grow in terms of being consistent during the game and he needs to be more decisive. He can do a lot better, and I'm convinced he will do a lot better.

Deulofeu showed glimpses of his talent during his spell at Everton, scoring eight goals in 75 appearances for the club, but failed to make an impact under new Toffees manager Ronald Koeman.

"He's a quality player. He has to be more consistent and clinical in front of goal, but I think he's doing well", Montellaadded.

Milan have slipped to eighth in Serie A after have lost their last three league games, and Montella is eager to get back to winning ways when his side play Bologna on Wednesday.

"I always try to think positive," Montella continued.

"My mission is to bring the fans back to the stadium, and I think we're building a winning mentality, which is in AC Milan's DNA.

"We already did something great by beating Juventus and winning the Supercup in Doha, but we have to put that behind us and continue working, focusing on our style of play.We have to keep calm and show great hunger because now we have to show our pride to end this negative spell".
