Ghanaian international, Salisu Mohammed was named in the Southampton matchday squad for the first time on Monday night when the team defeated Brighton & Hove Albion 2-1.

The highly-rated defender was signed by the Saints in the summer transfer window from Spanish La Liga outfit Real Valladolid.

Due to some concerns with his fitness level, he has had to wait while coaches at the club work on him to get him into the desired shape to feature in matches.

With significant improvement, Mohammed Salisu finally made it into the Southampton matchday squad yesterday when he was named as a substitute for the game against Brighton & Hove Albion.

In a game played at the American Express Community Stadium, the centre-back did not enjoy minutes but looks set for a role in the upcoming matches.

At the end of the matchday, Southampton cruised to a 2-1 win courtesy of goals from Jannik Vestergaard and Danny Ings that ensured that the equalizer from Pascal Gross did not earn any point for Brighton.
