Monaco Put Huge Price Tag on Rising Midfielder Coveted by Premier League Giants

Monaco will reportedly demand a top fee from any potential suitor looking to prise emerging midfield enforcer Timoue Bakayoko from Stade Louis II this summer.

In information credited to France Football, Monaco will ask for at least €60m (around £52m) if they are to put with the highly coveted 22-year-old, just one of several players at the exiting Ligue 1 leaders linked with high profiles moves at the end of the season.

Manchester United have been prominently linked with Bakayoko as Jose Mourinho looks to further strengthen his squad at Old Trafford ahead of what the manager hopes will be a serious Premier League title challenge in 2017/18.

Super agent Jorge Mendes' close ties with Mourinho and Monaco could aid United in any deals they may wish to pursue with the principality club. Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City have all unsurprisingly also been linked with Bakayoko, as have Juventus.

The rise of Bakayoko, Bernardo Silva, Kylian Mbappe, Thomas Lemar, Fabinho, Djibril Sidibe and others, combined with the experience of Joao Moutinho and the resurgence of Radamel Falcao, has given Monaco an excellent chance of a first French title since 1999/00.

Not since the days of David Trezeguet, Marco Simone, Marcelo Gallardo and Fabien Barthez have Monaco been crowned champions of France.

The class of 2016/17 remain the most prolific scorers in Europe's top five leagues with a return of 82 goals from 28 games so far and currently sit three points clear of four-time successive reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain with only two months of the campaign left to play.
