Manchester United are ready to make a bid for Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil next month.
Off contract in June, Ozil could join United for nothing at season's end.
But Don Balon says United boss Jose Mourinho will try and reunite with the former Real Madrid man in the New Year.
Mourinho is willing to offer up to £22m for Ozil.
Should United convince Arsenal to sell in order to avoid watching him go for free next summer, the 29-year-old would also profit significantly financially.
United would pay Ozil a signing-on bonus should he head to Old Trafford mid-season.
