Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Mousa Dembele has heaped praise on young teammate Harry Winks, claiming everybody at the club 'appreciates him'.

The 20-year-old academy star, who made his full debut against West Ham in November, has been a resounding success since battling his way into the Spurs first team, making 16 appearances in all competitions so far this season.

His performances have led to an international call-up with England's U21 side, which saw Winks make his debut in the 3-2 defeat to France in November.

The youngster has been an assured figure in the centre of Tottenham's midfield this season, earning praise from fellow centre-mid Mousa Dembele, who hailed Winks' performance in the 2-1 win over Burnley last weekend.

I think he did very well again in the Burnley match, the Belgian midfielder toldTottenham's official website.

Last year, even though he didn't play too much, we saw that he had a lot of potential and I'm glad for him that he's been getting some opportunities and his ability is coming out on the pitch now.

He's making progress as a young player but he's a good guy as well so everybody appreciates him and wants him to succeed.

The Lilywhites secured their ninth win of the season against Burnley, beating the Clarets 2-1 with goals coming fromDele Alli and Danny Rose. The result saw Spurs cut the gap to arch-rivals and fourth-placedArsenal to just one point, while league-leaders Chelsea are still 10 points in-front.
