MTN FA Cup: Asante Kotoko beat Thunderbolt FC to reach round of 16

Asante Kotoko have reached the MTN FA Cup round of 16 following their 3-1 win over Thunderbolt FC at the Ejisu Okese Park on Saturday.

Despite making some changes to their starting line-up, the Porcupine Warriors opened the scoring through Evans Adomako in the 5th minute of the game.

Five minutes later Napoleon Boateng levelled the score for the visitors with a sublime strike.

Soon after Fabio Gama was introduced into the game after Emmanuel Keyekeh was taken off with an injury.

After the recess, Kotoko took the lead again in the 48th minute courtesy Evans Adomako's strike.

A nicely hit first-time shot inside the box by Samuel Frimpong was tucked home by the lethal Adomako for his second goal.

Emmanuel Gyamfi put the icing on the cake in the 64th with the third goal after a good pass from Fabio Gama.

The result means Kotoko have advanved to the last 16 of the MTN FA Cup.

Coach Mariano Barreto's side will now switch attention to their upcoming league encounter against Karela United next Wednesday.
