Negotiations with Sogne Yacouba over contract extension is far advanced – George Amoako

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Kumasi Asante Kotoko, George Amoako has indicated that negations with attacker Sogne Yacouba over his contract extension are far advanced.

According to reports, the Burkina Faso striker has less than six months remaining on his contract with the Porcupine Warriors.

What that means is that he could walk away for free when his contract expires in the summer transfer window.

Due to his importance to Kotoko, they have started negotiations in the past month to have him extend his contract. However, it is understood that an agreement has not been reached due to the salary Sogne Yacouba is asking for.

Speaking to Angel FM on the negotiations with the players, Kotoko CEO George Amoako says talks have been tricky but things are looking good at the moment.

“As we speak, Yacouba’s contract with Kotoko has not expired. He is a Kotoko player but you know in football sometimes when someone has the better bargaining chip, it is difficult to talk to them”, the experienced administrator said.

He added, “So far all the misunderstandings between the club and the player have been resolved. Now it is very cordial and the player has picked up beautifully. He has expressed the interest to continue and we have also expressed the interest for him to continue. It is now left with the monetary aspect. There is a limit Kotoko can go and he also has his aspirations so we are still in negotiations”.
