New AC Milan head coach Vincenzo Montella has said that his new side must return to greatness not only in Italy, but also in Europe, in a report quoted by sportskeeda.com
Montella does concede that he has a tough job on his hands, but insists that the task to elevate Milan's European status once again can be done.
"We all need to sit down, this week we'll start working. Our objective is to return to greatness in Italy and in Europe," Efe quoted Montella as saying in an interview broadcast on Thursday by Sport Mediaset.
"It's a tough job but I'm convinced we'll make it. The difference is made by the players, so we need to get their performances to improve," the 42-year-old former Italy striker added.
Montella was appointed to the manager's role at the Rossoneri on Wednesday, and a statement from the San Siro club suggests that they fully believe that the former Sampdoria head coach is up for the job.

Montella, who took over at Sampdoria last November and led them to 15th in Serie A, represented Italy 20 times between 1999 and 2005, scoring three times for his country.
