New Leicester City boss Claude Puel has named Pascal Plancque as his assistant manager.

The 54-year-old worked alongside Puel at Southampton last season and will now form part of his backroom staff at Leicester.

He joins fellow assistant Appleton and first team coach Mike Stowell as part of the backroom staff.

“It is important to have a trainer who can help me have a relationship with the players," said Puel of Appleton, in his first Leicester press conference at the King Power Stadium on Friday.

"It is very, very important to prepare and make decisions. Pascal will come in as assistant manager. He brings the same things as Michael.

"He is a good person, like Michael, and a good trainer also."
