Newcastle's Henri Saivet joins Sivasspor on short-term loan

Henri Saivet will play alongside Robinho at Sivasspor.

Henri Saivet has left Newcastle to join Turkish side Sivasspor on loan for the rest of the season.

The 27-year-old was signed by then Magpies boss Steve McClaren for around £5 million in January 2016.

However, Saivet has struggled to make an impact in the north east and, having only made four appearances in all competitions this season, has joined Sivasspor on loan.

The Senegal international has left with an eye on proving himself worthy of a place at the World Cup and spent last season on loan at St Etienne.

Sivasspor are eighth in Turkish Super Lig and earlier this month completed the signing of former Manchester City and Real Madrid forward Robinho.
