Ghana Premier League powerhouse, Medeama Sporting Club has officially unveiled Nguvu Mining as the club’s headline sponsor.

Nguvu Mining replaces Gold Fields Ghana Limited who have terminated their contract with the club.

The new deal comes with a $300,000 financial package to support Medeama’s campaign in the 2023-2024 CAF Champions League season.

The financial support will help the Yellow and Mauve prepare adequately ahead of their group-stage participation in the Champions League.

Medeama have been pitted against the most decorated Club in Africa, 11-time Champions & defending Champions Al-Ahly,

Tanzanian side Young Africans and Algerian outfit CR Belouizdad complete the Champions League Group D draw.

Medeama will face two North African opponents – and one from East Africa.

Speaking after the unveiling of Nguvu Mining Limited, Board Member of the Club, who doubles as the Member of Parliament for the Nsuem Constituency, George Mireku Duker shared with Citi Sports what spurred them on in securing the deal.

"It is an exciting moment because if you have a team of that stature in your constituency, it tells you that you have a herculean task because I had to whip them up to ensure that they win the league.

"Because of the 10,000 capacity stadium Gold Fields is building for us, we said let’s make good use of the stadium because we cannot work and have a stadium of that pedigree without making good use of it.

"So we facilitated, we motivated the board to win the league.

"Secondly, I said no, we not only going to participate in Africa, we have to make a name at the International level.

"Money was a challenge, sometimes you need to run around to get something to support the team to get out there.

"Going to Nigeria, was a big challenge, getting to Guinea was equally a hustle," he added.

Meanwhile, Medeama SC will travel to the Nana Fous Gyeabour Park in the matchday four games of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League games later today with kick-off scheduled at 15:00GMT.
