Nigeria assistant coach Emmanuel Amuneke has explained why the Super Eagles must respect the Black Stars ahead of the crucial World Cup play-off this evening.

The Super Eagles play host to the Black Stars at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium after a pulsating o-0 draw at the Baba Yara Stadium last Friday.

Ghana arrived in Abuja with 26 players on Monday afternoon to prepare for the second leg tie today.

Ahead of the encounter, the former Nigeria international has said they must respect their Ghana counterparts, because they also play in Europe and are aware tactically and technically.

“The important thing is to have cohesion, knowing when to attack and when to defend without losing the structure of the team.

“Just like us, the Ghanaians also want to go to the World Cup, and just like our players, Ghanaian players also play in Europe. So they are aware from a tactical, technical, individual and team point of view, so we must have that respect for them.

“That means we have to stay focused and work hard. I believe that if we do our jobs, then we can win the game, but we cannot be complacent.”

A scoring draw will see Ghana qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup mundial in Qatar in November this year whiles Nigeria needs a win to make it at the expense of Ghana.

Nigeria are in search of their 7th World Cup qualification whereas Ghana chase their 4th qualification.
