Nigeria’s Sports Ministry, NFF agree to appoint a foreign coach for Super Eagles after crunch meeting

Published on: 06 April 2022

The Ministry in charge of Sports in Nigeria and the football federation has agreed to appoint a foreign coach for the Super Eagles following a crunch meeting this week.

The appointment of a new head coach for the national team has become necessary following the team’s inability to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Ghana denied Nigeria the chance to qualify for the world cup last month after a 1-1 aggregate draw at the end of the two legs of the playoff tie of the African qualifiers.

Thanks to the cruel away goal rule, the Black Stars won the tie and have qualifiers to participate in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Unimpressed with the performance of the technical team of the Super Eagles, the NFF has parted ways with all personnel after they agreed to resign.

On Monday, April 4, 2022, Nigeria’s Sports Ministry held a crunch meeting with the NFF and has agreed to bring in a foreign coach to take charge of the Super Eagles.
