Nii Armah wins Man of the Match award as Berekum Chelsea secures Viareggio Cup quarter final qualification

Samuel Nii Armah was adjudged the best player on Tuesday when Berekum Chelsea secured a historic quarter finals berth at the ongoing Viareggio Cup tournament in Italy.

Nii Armah who is on loan from Dreams FC staged a stupendous performance to emerge the best player of the day as The Blues made history on Tuesday over Brazillian side Athletico Paranaense.

A 16th minute strike by Jonah Attuquaye was cancelled in the 53rd minute by David sending the game into straight penalty shoot outs.

Berekum Chelsea converted 7 of their kicks with Athletico Paranaense scoring 6 to see the Ghanaian side progressing to the next stage of the competition.

The young Black Stars B midfielder was hailed by many for his aggression in midfielder and shrewdness and his passing, making him an outstanding figure in the game.

The qualification makes Berekum Chelsea the first African side to reach the quarter-final of the prestigious Viareggio Youth Cup on Tuesday afternoon.

With Tuesday’s win, they also become the first African side to reach the last eight of the tournament as they vie for the title of the tournament highly regarded in Italy.
