NSA should step their COVID-19 protocols up- Great Olympics security manager

Emmanuel Saint Osei, the security manager of Great Olympics have tasked the National Sports Authority (NSA) to put more effort to ensure COVID-19 protocols are adhered to.

Recently, Hearts of Oak were banned from allowing fans into the stadium after COVID-19 protocols were not observed during their mantse derby clash with Great Olympics. A similar punishment was given to Medeama for the same offence.

Saint Osei acknowledged that the NSA have put some measures in place to combat the virus but those measures are not enought.

"It is true that some PPEs have been made available at the Accra Sports stadium but a lot more have to be done. For instance, if you go to the toilet, it is nothing to write home about. In fact the management of Great Olympics met and thought it wise to bring some ideas that can also help," he told Joy FM.

"This is not an individual affair. It [the virus] can affect somebody at the stadium and can be transferred to somebody you know and it may hit you. I think some hand sanitizers should be placed at vantage points where supporters sit to watch matches. I really don't like the way the toilet facility is being managed at the stadium. I didn't see any soaps and detergents there. Every stakeholder must play a role [in ensuring COVID-19 protocols]. It shouldn't all be placed on the home team."
