1. FC Nurnberg appears to be on the lookout for reinforcements in their own league. According to the 'Bild,' sports director Dieter Hecking personally evaluated Michael Akoto.

The right-back is slated to play for Dynamo Dresden in the second level and has played 21 competitive games this season.

In the short term, the club is seeking a successor for captain Enrico Valentini, 33, whose contract at Valznerweiher expires in less than a year and a half. Last summer, Akoto was already on the Franks' roster.

Despite his position as a centre-back, Akoto can also play right-back or left-back. Nuremberg's keen interest is attributed to his defensive flexibility.

He began his career in Germany in 2014, when he joined SV Wehen Wiesbaden U17. He went on to play for their U19 and first teams before joining Mainz.
