In a statement on the club's official Twitter account, LigaMX side Monterrey announced that they have signed Costa Rican standout Joel Campbell on a loan with option to buy deal for a year.

Campbell, who was playing his football with Leon, will join a Monterrey side who is going all-in, after bringing in Pachuca's highly-touted midfielder Erick Aguirre on a permanent deal earlier in the week. Campbell comes in to replace forward Dorlan Pabon, who recently rescinded his contract with Monterrey to go back to his native Colombia to play for Atletico Nacional.

Campbell will arrive in Monterrey after Costa Rica's involvement in the upcoming Gold Cup comes to an end, and will try to contribute for a side that has clearly lofty ambitions, as they also just signed Mexican international Hector Moreno to shore up their defense.
